Other Names: Yellow king-devil, field hawkweed


Description: A perennial that grows in patches or alone. Has bright yellow flowers on nearly leafless flower-stalks that reach 25-90cm in height. They exude a white sap when broken. They have hairy leaves. The flowers head resemble dandelions but are smaller and produced in clusters of two or more. Unopened flower heads are covered in rows of dark hairs.


Habitat: Common in low maintenance turfgrass, roadsides, abandoned fields and meadows. It is often found on poor, dry, or gravelly soils that are usually low in fertility and acidic.
